Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is pleased to partner with Vertex Pharmaceuticals to offer a unique opportunity for top HBCU talent to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry during the summer of 2024.
Vertex Pharmaceuticals is seeking a highly motivated, creative and innovative summer intern to join the Discovery Core Applied Technology (DCAT) Group. Our team is dedicated to developing platforms that enable rapid sample plating and assay execution globally. As part of this internship, the candidate will have the opportunity to implement robust software solutions to transfer and track small-molecule samples.

- Learn lab workflows that are currently manual
- Interpret and contribute to design specification development
- Develop instrument drivers for Vertex robotic automation platforms
- Collaborate with DCAT to implement software solutions that meet end user’s needs
- Use critical thinking to tackle challenges unique to the biotech industry

- Software Development
Requirements for TMCF Vertex Discovery Core Applied Technology Intern Qualification
- Software Engineering or related background
- SQL, C#, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
- Ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with the team
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of UX/UI design
- Knowledge of Python
- Master’s student preferred
- Knowledge of configuration management tools (e.g. Subversion, Git, etc.)
- Must be available to work hybrid on-site at the Vertex Boston headquarters for 12-14 weeks starting in late May/early June 2025.
